Personality:

G'ulf-fey is a fighter, he has to be to have survived all he did. But despite surviving he has been badly hurt emotionally. His home planet was bombed by the Cardassians as part of their attempt to wipe out those that opposed them. He saw most of his family dead form that attack and those that survived might not even be still alive. But in any case are lost to him.

As a result G'ulf-fey HATES Cardassians, and any who would stand with them. Given the choice he would dine on the hearts and 'sweetmeats' of them but for the fact the meat one gets form them is foul just like their souls.

It isn't the violence that is the root of this hatred, thou that plays a part, it is their methods. Klingons might desire territory and take it by force, but they would not bombard cites form orbit, they would at least make it seem the defender had some chance. They would have come with blades and met them in battle. They would have spared those who did not fight. If only to take them as servitors. The "inedible" gray lizards didn't even do that much.

Loyalty is the way of the Vargur. But so too is Pride and vengeance. A Vargur is loyal to his or her captain and worries not about loyalty beyond that person. The Capt. worries about keeping such loyalty and leading well. Beyond this there is only the gods, and there are many. Superstition and shamanic ritual is part of Vargur life.

The legend of SharpFang tells "To die well is as important as to live well. A warrior must not throw away his life, but must spend that death wisely. Only then he will be remembered in the family's song of mourning. G'ulf-fey has no family, they are gone, there is no song, no remembrance of him, save for in the memories of comrades, his unit, and his ship. That is all he has now, Vargur do not spill tears

History:

G'ulf-fey's family lived on their clan lands, on a planet in the "disputed" territories near the badlands/Bajoran system . The planet was mostly ignored by the great empires. It had no treasures, no great stores of wealth, except to its people. They knew it as a place to hunt and fish and run and where they could raise their kin in safety.

For the Vargur enjoyed a almost natural life. They lived in harmony with their home, adapting where needed to the ways of the land. Forests were places where life was renewed. Rivers and streams were places of water and fishing. What little industry there was, was ion places like deserts or rocky places where nature would not be harmed by it.

G'ulf-fey grew in this place until his 12th year. Running in forests and finding thrills in playing in the surf , but then the enemy came and the Stars fell from the skies, and the sun burned at midnight. From what he has managed to find out, the Cardassians had been negotiating a treaty with the Humans. Then while they were distracted they moved into to secure the disputed planets and classes his along with those settled by Solomoni (humans) The inedible appeared and demanded their property and when this was questioned they grew angry.

Messages of appeal were sent. But the Grey men, these Cardassians, saw the questioning as rebellion and answered words with weapons. Forests burned, skies grew dark even after day break, rain fell but it was black. Death marched boldly thru the streets of cities, and few were the ones that were able to escape its grasp. The Greys killed those they chose, it is said they took pelts as if form animals and others they allowed to leave but on crowded ancient ships, which might or might not ever get anywhere.

G'ulf-fey wasn't on one of those crowded ships but an ancient one all the same. It was one of the first ones gone and so not as crowded as those that escaped as the worst of the atrocities happened. Still even here many were lost on that 'Night-sea-journey', and it was only thru chance that they were found. Rescue came in the form of a Brother of A-Gue (the great sky eagle) and in the form of a group calling themselves Klingons.

These couldn't not help the survivors , their ship was small and not for passengers, but they did get them to a place where help was. A small base where fighters lived, and fought to keep the monsters back. (possibly DS( or similar, before the mine field failed)

Here G'ulf-fey was to see the last of the family he had left. For in his anger he found a person who would allow him to fight, a so called "Marquis" who agreed to have him in his band. G'ulf-fey said goodbye to his kin, he knew he would probably die before seeing them again. His sister handed him a package saying it was from an elder. In it was a family 'Claw-Blade', a dreaming stone and the collar he wears. "you are Vargur, your path is changing, as is your pack. Run for those of us who cannot, slay the enemy and count coup on his bones, return to us when the war is over" That was the last he saw of her and them some time later the "Lizards" spilled thru the "sky tunnel" and the place was gone, he hopes they died well but will never know.

Time, possibly years passed and he did grow. The 'clan'; he was with was called "Star-Tigers" the name once belonged to a 'free company' what some called mercenaries. But if rumours were true these were Federation people who saw the danger an formed to fight the Gray skins before it was too late. They accepted him and helped him, tempered his anger and taught him to fly. When there was time they had him study courses, and some of these were marked "prprty of SFAcdmy". But he didn't ask about this he simply learned what they would teach him and grew to what he needed to be.

By the time the reports of the shattering of the Federation reached them he had a decent education given the circumstances. According to his 'jacket' (the file they gave him a copy of) he had a 'Major' in StarFighter use and tactics, and a Minor in communications tech. Were there still a star-fleet they told him he would make excellent ships crew. Able to converse in several languages (Tellarite, Bajoran, and Klingon) as well as Federation Standard. The pack leader (called Squadron leader) assembled the survivors and informed them the unit was being broken up. They just didn't have the personal or the resources to continue. He spoke to each team and gave them a place to try for When he turned to G'ulf-fey, the place was where a remnant of the federation were, and He hoped they might join a unit there. He and his flight would leave immediately.

Loyalty is a word to some, a task to others and a Joy to a few. A brief "we will meet again" and the ships lifted. Each man had a copy of the knowledge each had his gear, if even one made it the task would be a success, if all of them did they would fight again but now with UFP patches on their flight suits.

The news reports said the Federation/Cardassian war was over, they are wrong. The war will never be over till their Empire is smashed and the lost children avenged. The fight to the place was hard and those that flew with him did not all make it. Brunhild was the first to die, smashing her craft into a Cardassian cruisers bridge. The ship didn't die but it allowed the others time to escape. Sparrow was the last to fall, his craft simply couldn't go on her engines burning out and his ship breaking up as they entered the system.

But G'ulf-fey did make it and saw a sight that made the loses worth the loses getting here, a ship , not battered and cobbled together but almost clean , and in good repair and looking like it could take on the entire Cardassian empire if need be, if someone would just allow it. He called to the ship and asked permission to dock and landed there. His craft all but spent and really not much more than spare parts now. Getting out he handed the officer on deck the data cartridges and then removed his helmet.

The man gawked at him, as if he had never seen a Vargur before. G'ulf-fey knew his people were not numerous , even before the war, but they weren't that rare were they? The man allowed him that the captain might see him. And G'ulf-feysmiled , if he could join this ship he would again be a blade to strike at the Grey skins <of decaying flesh> here would be a Capt. to decide where and when they would strike. Gods willing.
